I love doing this looks because it inspires me to be creative with my work. High fashion make up is very difficult because it requires a lot of creative problem solving in the process.


I recently did a make up look inspired by Dior's runway look 2011

Make up school day9 and day10

It's my 5th session in make up school and so far I think i'm getting a hang of it doing a much cleaner make up YAY! My model for this session is Carmie. She modeled for me before, (I think it was the first gig) but i didn't do a great job on her (because apparently it was my first time) but now I took her again as a model to see if I've improved ever since that shoot :)

I've also used cinema secrets cream foundation it really is GOOD(it's my second time to use it, the 1st one was a fail) . It's creamy and light to wear (well that's accdg to carmie) I buffed the foundation using a brush  because she doesn't have a lot of blemishes :)

First Thoughts:

Art deco eyeshadows  I really love the texture of it, satiny smooth <3, it stays well (but not enough) , but I think it is better off with a primer. 

make up spatula and mixing palette- I really wanted a make up forever or a tin/steel palette but the advantage of this palette (acylic plastic) is I can readily see the foundation color I'm mixing for a client :) 

benefit Porefesionally kit- I've already owned a benifit product before so i can say that the porefesional works like magic <3, im excited to try 2 of the products that comes with it.

Marionaud eyebrow brush- my fried marie tells me that it is a really nice brush for separating lashes from masscara clumps. Imma try it in my next class.

Maybeline Eyestudio- Well this was an impluse buy (because of the rose gold color) , and I hope I wont regret buying it, it's a cream shadow but the weather here in the philippines is super hot, so creams are not really advisable for make up gigs ( it WILL crease) maybe I can use it as a base for an eye shadow, IDK.

revlon photo ready blush- well i have mixed emotions with this product, I will try to use it on other people on my gigs.

Sleek I-divine palette- this works like a gem, I really love this palette. the color selection are nice and pigmented <3

Milani eyebrow kit - this is ok for me. I can make this also as an eye shadow.

Swimming Lessons YAY!

I've started to take swimming lessons(din!)

Me and my friend miggy are a total sinker sa pool. We are jealous of our friends who swim in deep waters (yikes!) Pag nasa beach kami palagi kaming left-out because we can't go that far sa water. Hindi namin ma enjoy ang beach and coral gardens. Kaya na realize namin maybe it's time to take lessons para na rin sa survival at pampayat na din hehehehe

nahihiya kami nung una nung pumasok kami kasi ang jologs namin, tapos yung BF homes parang mga senyora nakatira dun dahil ang laki ng mga bahay. nakakahiya rin kasi yung mga bata dun ( like 5 or 6 yrs old) marunong na mag butterfly swim (what?!)

but it turns out ok lang pala kasi 2 lang kami ni miggy mag classmate. Which is good kasi 1 hr lang per day ang class, super tutok kami sa aral.

EYEBROW TIPS (NOT A TUTORIAL)

Today I'm going to talk about eyebrows. They are my current obsession right now O_O

I've learned in school that eyebrows is the MAKE or BREAK--meaning you have to have a spot on eyebrows to make a look.


Brows are also very important because they frame the eyes and face :)  if your brows are properly done well. you can look young looking and well-groomed(even if you don't have much make up on)

I think that every girl should know how to groom and style their own brows because it really makes a difference on the face. Thin and droopy brows can really make you old, while full on brows can make you young.

OVERVIEW on brow grooming and filling

BROW GROOMING:
OK here are the tools/steps for grooming

TOOLS:

1.) tweezers
2.) brow shaver
3.) small scissors for trimming


How to do it.
well it's really subjective, But I can say that there are a lot of videos in YOUTUBE available.
Michelle Phan has one and that's the one I followed through. I'll do a video of anyone of you will request it.
BUT really there are tons in Youtube, Just find something that will really fit your style.

1.) get a long skinny brussh or pencil and place it along the side of the nose. That is where your brows should begin

2.) tilt your brush and angle it to where your pupils are. That should determine your arch

3.) tilt it again to the end of eye. that is where your brow ends.

4.) connect the dots and you'll have a shape.

TIP portion

1.) when choosing a brow pencil/powder use an ASHY shade, meaning it's neutral. not to red, not to blue or yellow. I find that Ever Bilena and Nichido's brow pencil really RED toned these are not good because it looks unnatural.

2.) if your hair is dark. Pick a color 1-2 shades lighter than your hair color (I have black hair, so I pick a dark brown), if you have Lighter hair, use a 1-2 shades darker than your hair color.

3.) Fill your brows in a HAIR like motion so that it looks natural

4.) if you want a slimmer nose bridge, extend the front part of the brows. this will give an illusion of a slimmer nose line.

5.) arch your brows for an instant lift in the eye, highlight it with a light-toned concealer for an instant eye-lifting effect.

6.) always pluck your brows in the direction of the hair growth. so that the hairs won't grow the opposite way.

7.) Treat brows like sisters. They don't have to be OVERLY symmetrical, but they do have to be similar.

I've struggled with my brows myself (and also other people). I nearly shaved my arch because they were too different. Before, someone almost shaved my whole eyebrows because they didn't have the right shape. T_T

Make Up School :)

YAY! finally I've enrolled in a make up school~
Jo barba Make Up School and Studio! yay!

In case you don't know Jo Barba, She is a pioneer in the make up industry in the Wedding Category. She is also a make up artist to the stars. She's even considered as an Honorary Member at UMAP (United Make-Up Artists of  the Philippines).

Ms. Jo. No. she's not the blonde girl :)

My school is not so popular yet, because we are the first students of their program. It was only opened this February 2013.

I chose this school because of these reasons:
1.) it is near our house
2.) teachers came from the original MAQUILLAGE PROFESSIONEL w/c formerly is handled by Make up forever. (MUFE already closed down here in the Philippines, and their supported school maquillage is not anymore connected to MUFE, well that's what I heard)
3.) make up is provided by the school (we use cinema secrets)
4.) we have 2 teachers alternating to teach us, they both work with big stars on screen so they are giving us their trade secrets <3
5.)  It's has the smallest student-teacher ratio 1 teacher, 5 students
6.)  IT IS NEAR OUR HOUSE!! (I really can't believe it)

It's located in the heart of Quezon City, near the original PARES house in SN Amoranto or RETIRO

I enrolled for a Module 1 course. This course is for those who wants to be a Make Up Artist and do it as a career in the future.

It is actually for 12 sessions, but compress to 6 sessions (meaning we have 2 topics to cover per session)

As of now, I'm in the 4th session, meaning that I've already tackled 8 topics.
Tuition already includes make-up (MUFE style). So we only have to bring our brushes (luckily I have plenty!)

I can say I'm only at the 4th session on my course and I already feel satisfied, I've learned a lot. Before what I did with make-up was chamba-chamba lang (my own discretion of what I know) . Now I'm much more confident with what I do for my clients. To put into perspective, pak na pak na ang funda! at kaya kong ng kumabog ng eyeshadow. haha!

BACK AGAIN

Hi blog, napabayaan nanaman kita (neglected you again) after I've said I'll write to you once in a while I've totally abandoned you again. I'm sorry HAHA. Minsan kasi wala talaga akong masulat na OK e. kaya better not to write it, right? Ayoko lang ng sobrang sappy moments, keep that in your personal life stuff nalang.(charot!)

Anywho, Recap ang update nalang.

2012 was a blunder of events for me. To summarize, para akong kumain sa buffet. Madaming ulam, pero di lahat masarap. May mapait, may masarap, may nanumbalik na ulam, may nawalang ulam,  but at the end natae lang ako (joke!) in the end, I was happy. I won't expound on the things na panget. But all is good at the end of the year. I had major MUA and Photography gigs. yay!

I finally have a say sa career ko, I wanna be a MUA and Photographer talaga. AS IN! Currently, I'm studying to be a certified make-up artist (with a diploma and all) pero I've just realize na gusto ko talaga siyang gawin kahit everyday pa. (I'll update you on the photos and all) I've recently joined UMAP (united make up artists of the philippines) and we have a fashion show this april (sosyal!)

I don't know if i want this to be a "beauty blog" kasi personally, JUSKO tamad ako sa mga beauty regime na yan. Altho, willing naman ako mag try ng mga bagong products. Kasi feeling ko, sobrang obses ako sa make up.... Pwede bang pampaganda blog nalang teh, not necessarily about me but the artistry of it << EWAN! LOL

MIDEO CRUZ IS A SUPERSTAR.

(I will express my thoughts in taglish [english, filipino],  for this entry.)

Recently may buzz sa FB at sa News regarding Mideo Cruz's exhibit(hanapin nyo nalang sa FB, see it for yourself). Blasphemy daw yun and CBCP is filing a case against him and CCP for such work. (yan short-cut)

Eto ang commentary ko:

Dati akong devote ng church. Nakatira kami malapit sa simbahan. kapitbahay namin ay simbahan mismo. My parents are hardcore Catholics, they serve the church everyday.  So practically speaking church was part of my life.

Pero bakit ngayon agnostic na ko?

Hindi dahil ayoko maniwala kay God. I love God. I just want to practice praise by myself. I just believe that somehow people are blinded by religion.

I state this from personal experience:

Meron  kaming kapitbahay, like my parents hardcore catholic siya. Pero grabe, UBOD ng sama ng ugali, yung katulong nila na matanda na pinag mumura nya at pinalayas ng madaling araw. Yung mom ko inaway nya. AT tangapin na natin may nangyayaring politics din sa church, "ay malakas ako ke father chorva, pwede natin siyang i-convince...blah blah"

Yung Pari namin namin, sige bless ang mga bata sa kanya, pero sa likod nya may YOSI. Magarbong sasakyan pero ang mga parokyano niya walang makain. And BTW, yung ibang pari ay nang iimpluensya na ng mga parokyano kasi utos daw yun ng diyos kaya dapat gawin nila " dapat ganito..dapat ganun.."(hindi lang yan sa isang relihyon ah)

At yung ibang tao, naiinis ako kasi dahil religious sila mapapatunayan nila na malakas sila kay God. Kahit UGALI na talaga nila ang mali.  kunwari, sasabihin nila na "ako lang "INSERT RELIGION HERE" dito e, kaya nila ako inaaway, or sinisiraan, ok lang kung umalis ako ksi mag pprovide naman si "INSERT THE NAME OF THE GOD HERE.""

wala akong angst kay God, si God ay si God.

PERO. Naiinis lang ako sa mga feeling follwers niya pero sa gawa e walang wala naman. Naiinis ako sa thinking na dnodiyos diyos siya pero ang bukang bibig ay puro paninira. Naiinis ako sa mga pakitang tao na nag sisimba nga, pero pag nakatalikod demonyo nman. Naiinis ako sa mga tanong gumagamit ng pangalan ni God para sa sarili nila, para sa sarili nilang ideology, sariling masamang ugali.

kaya don't ask me kung bat ako hindi na nag sisimba, ksi honestly naiinis lang ako na may mga tao sa simbahan mismo ay masama na.

ngayun alam nyo nakung bat ayoko na ng religion.
now to get to the other point. mideo cruz.

Agree ako sa art ni mideo cruz. If it were europe, tatangapin nila ang open suggestion ni mideo sa art niya. I'll just interpret it on my own,  dahil wala na sakin ang religion. Kaya lang naman nagagalit yung mga catholic ksi feeling nila na bastos si God. Naisip ko lang, bat ngayun pa nag care yung church sa Art? porke ba hindi Jesus-Jesus ginagawa niya kelangan tablahin natin siya? Porket tablado lang ang ideologies mo sa religion kelangan murahin natin ang isang tao? edi sana di ba ginera na ng vatican ang mga countries na hindi catholic ang belief.

Alam ko sasabihin mo, e binastos nila e, binaboy nila si God...

pero natanong mo ba, YUN ba ang intent ng artist?? sirain ang belief ng tao? ilan lang ba ang nag pupunta sa CCP? sa lahat ng opennings na nakita ko never ever pa ko nakakita obispo na umatend, tapos sila ngayun ang mag didictate sa ART kung ano ang moral at imoral?

Yung art ni Mideo Cruz, para sakin doesnt contain blasphemous messeges. From the logical side, this is a view of religion, -dictatorship and pride- alam mo namn ang church dito, dapat palaging sundin... pag hindi nag tatampo, nag tatantrums and the worst case nag ppower trip.

those things na inexbhibit are inanimate things,  it is not God itself but just mere imaginations of PEOPLE of what God is. It is just a mere symbol of their faith. But faith itself is intangible SO WHY BOTHER NOW?

Di ba? kung sagrado katoliko ka nga, nasira ba ang faith mo dahil nag exhibit si mideo ng ganun? di ba hindi naman? so bakit ganun ganun nalang ang reaction ng mga catholics. ANG FISHY LANG....

I 've tried the masacara in the counter, their are 2 kinds, the volume type and the lengthening type, I didnt like the applicator on the volume type (not a fan of the comb type applicator) , so I bought the lengthening one w/c has the brush applicator.I must say it really lengthens the lash, and it looks so naturale ^__^ this is my fave mascara to date <3 I love it talaga.

Didn't really like the story (the story is lame-o), but the whole movie has that eye-candy effect. Nice production, cinematography, but the story is a blaaaahgggg...you will remember it because of the girls. I like the make ups tho, nice! I give it 2 out of  5.

I'm so happy for my office mates who recently pass the bar exams! Out of 4000+ who took the bar, 980 only passed and 2 of them are my friends waaaa! Actually ako kinabahan sa kanila, I felt  sick to my stomach waiting for their results, the anticipation is also taking a toll on me (yuck affected haha), kasi ba naman no araw araw na sila nag sisimba, biruin mo yun pwede na sila i canonize as saints kasi lahat na ata ng simbahan sinimba na nila! from the stories I heard,  I can say that it is really difficult to  pass the bar, and this bar particularly because..well.. people say it was the hardest! Thanks God! My sincerest congratulations for the two of you!

whew! to tell you the truth I had fun shopping for these items!

I'm disappointed in etude house(north edsa the block branch) for not giving me freebies *mad* I been buying a lot of my products there but they never gave me good freebie, buti pa sa SM fairview and megamall branch, worth 300 lang na avail ko and I already have a free BB cream sachet, pero pinangregalo ko sayang...

Napabili ako bigla ng belo skin care, because I was hearing some good reviews on belo's products, I even heard from belo, that if you have super oily skin you can use belo for men because it is potent. I like that the toner has a whitening ingredient already such as glutathione, kojic acid and giga white,  GET THIS, IT IS SURPRISINGLY CHEAP TOO! the toner cost around 39.00pesos per 60 ml, that is cheaper than ponds!
I'm looking forward to buying the whole skin care system pero as of now what I really need is a toner so yun ang binili ko.

As for the sun block, well I was about to go home when a sales lady from belo called me and said I have to test there sunblock, and will give me a ton of freebies if I do buy the sunblock. I was really planning to buy a sunblock anyway so I went, I was surprise that belo's sunblock is NOT STICKY and REMAINS UNSCENTED. I'm a fan of not sticky products because my face tend to oil up, I've tried banana boat just because of the high SPF, but I really dont like the smell and the sticky feeling. I grabbed the face sunblock with SPF 40 (they also have the body sunblock with SPF 60 for 399) , for 299, it's really cheap considering the saleswoman is giving me tons of freebies. The sales person is really intelligent about the product, kaya mas na convince ako, She even gave me 2 facial wash samplers so I was really happy. This is great for summer so grab it na.

(hey  Dr. vicky belo, if you ever read this you have to give me free facials sobra na ang free advertising ko sa product mo, hehe)

I also bought myra-e moisturizer because my ponds moisturizer is turning into liquid (yung parang nag hihiwalay na siya, liquid then may buo buo, I wouldn't put that on my face) I heard from an officemate named ela (haha), that it is quite good. Well for 99pesos it's a steal, *it also involves a sales lady who gave me vitamin e tablets as freebies* anyway I tested it just now and it feels great already, it's also non-sticky, it absorbs quickly , im happy!


on other make up news, I did a make up look on myself again! haha! this time I was trying to make my eyes bigger!

I've recently been addicted listening to Good times with MO TWISTER! We (my officemates) can't get enough of his podcasts!

He really is the Philippine genius

I know he has a morning show in the radio on magic, but this podcasts really different, no holds barred!lots of  sex, love and relationship talk ^__^ Eto nalang pinapakinggan ko sa office pag super bored na ko, it really makes me laugh out loud minsan, wish ko lang sana may makakita ng blog na to at makinig rin kay Mo hahahah! He is with Dr. Gan (he's a real doctor BTW) In fairness ha, may A-List guests at bongga ang mga prizes! trip for 2 to japan , blackberry(not bad di ba), to name a few... Sometimes gusto ko mag made up ng relationship problem para may reason ako tumawag sa kanya. haha

LOVELINE hosted by Dr. Drew ( he is also a medical doctor) it has the same theme and concept, love, sex, relationship(I wonder if mo got the idea from here) I've been listening to loveline back in the days(like year ago), nag stop lang dahil I forgot the link where I can listen to it live on the internet.
